Welcome to the Delygate newsletter! This newsletter keeps you up to date with everything linked to coaching and your favorite career podcast Reaching your Goals. It is all about supporting you to get one step closer to living a fulfilled professional life.
How satisfied are you with the balance in your life? On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate it?
If you are at a 10, congratulations!! If you are at a 7 or less, welcome into my world! I wish I could report higher satisfaction in terms of balance. But the reality is that finding a balance is easier said than done.
Let’s find out how you can gain clarity on your needs.
Your roles. Which roles are the most important ones for you? Typical roles are being a working professional, a parent, a friend, a partner, a child, an athlete, or an artist. Which of your roles are the ones closest to your heart? Name the 2-3 most important ones.
Set expectations. Which activities do you need to complete to feel satisfied with yourself? Try to be as specific as possible, e.g., spending quality time with somebody or completing a task by a date.
Sense check your expectations. Compare your expectations with the available time. Is it realistic? If not, you are doomed to be disappointed in yourself! To avoid it, please revisit the roles to focus on and/or adjust your expectations. Your expectations need to feel achievable. And yes, there are only 24 hours in a day! You can have it all, just not always at the same time!
Track your progress. Now that you know what roles are most important to you and what you want to achieve in each of them, review your progress once per day. How do your activities compare vs. your expectations?
Please give yourself some credit when you meet your expectations! It deserves a clap on the shoulder, and you may feel proud of yourself!!
Watch out: if you are consistently off, please readjust your most important roles and expectations!
